On the southern fringe of Leicester, a stone’s throw from the tree-lined banks of the River Soar and around 15 minutes’ walk from the lively village centre of Enderby, Augustus Park has a refreshingly calm and invigorating ambience. Enderby Leisure Centre in Mill Lane, on the eastern edge of the village and just a few minutes’ walk from Augustus Park, has just undergone a £1 million refurbishment programme to upgrade its gym, changing-rooms, crèche facilities and cafeteria. The Centre incorporates a 25m L-shaped swimming-pool, teaching pools, a comprehensively equipped Banana Fitness Suite, a sauna, three squash courts, a six-rink bowls hall, a sports hall with badminton courts, and a nine-hole golf course. There is a second leisure centre around a mile away at the Hilton Hotel Leicester, alongside junction 21 of the M1, with a swimming-pool, cardiovascular suite and weights, and a sauna and beauty suite.

Transport
With junction 21 of the M1 – which is also junction 3 of the M69 – less than a mile-and-a-half away, Augustus Park is an exceptionally convenient commuting base for the Midlands. There are regular bus services between Enderby village and Leicester, and local train stations at Narborough and South Wigston offer services into Leicester and Nuneaton.

Enderby has a lively choice of local activities and organisations, ranging from the Heritage Group and the celebrated brass band, one of the largest in the UK, to the Harriers running club and the Manga Group that meets in the local library, and there is a also a good choice of bars and restaurants in the village. The multi-screen Vue cinema, Hollywood Bowl and fast-food restaurants of Meridian Leisure Park are just two miles away, and for days and evenings out, the lively city centre attractions of Leicester include live music and drama at the University’s Richard Attenborough Centre and major national touring shows at the De Montfort Hall.

Education
Enderby Danemill Primary School has a dual site, with a junior school in Mill Lane, approximately three-quarters of a mile from Augustus Park, and a nursery school just a little further away in Townsend Road. The local high school and community education centre, Brockington College, is also situated in Mill Lane, and will shortly be moving into newly-built premises on the same site. Brockington College acts as a feeder school for the Lutterworth Grammar School, which has an excellent academic record and specialises in drama and sports. A free bus service takes students to the Lutterworth site.

Shopping
Augustus Park has two completely contrasting shopping areas within easy reach. The old narrow streets of Enderby village offer a delightful traditional shopping environment, with retailers to cover most everyday needs. And one of the UK’s biggest retail parks, the Fosse Shopping Park, is located just 15 minutes’ walk to the north of the development. With the widest selection of high-street names in the Midlands, Fosse Park also offers a choice of restaurants and cafés.

Health care
There are good health care facilities in easy reach of Augustus Park, including a medical centre in Shortridge Lane in Enderby, staffed by three GPs. The Avenue Dental Practice, also in the village, has a staff of five practitioners offering a comprehensive range of dental and ancillary services.
